The
www.healthyfuturesva.com Web site features nearly 100 videos on other topics, by theme and by health visit from prenatal through age 4. Themes include child development, healthy weight, healthy nutrition, physical activity and oral health. Videos organized by health visits help prepare parents for what to expect from health supervision visits consistent with the
Bright Futures Guidelines for Health Supervision of Infants, Children, and Adolescents, Third Edition.
Health professionals can feel confident recommending these videos to parents and other care givers. These videos can be shared during office visits, recommended to families for viewing at home, or used when making presentations to families and child care givers in the community.
When parents and health professionals share the same child’s health information, they are better prepared to work as partners to promote positive outcomes for a healthy child, family and community.
Parents will gain valuable information about the health and development of their child and read supplementary information that supports the videos, including action plans to help promote and foster progress and development.
For more information about the integration of Bright Futures into the health promotion initiatives in Virginia, and background information on the development of these videos, visit
