Academic Pediatric Association New Update

The Academic Pediatric Association (APA) is dedicated to improving the health of all children and adolescents through leadership in education of child health professionals, research and dissemination of knowledge, patient care, and advocacy in partnership with children, families and communities. APA administers the Bright Futures Young Investigator Award Program  which funds projects aimed at enhancing the effectiveness and evidence base for health supervision in primary care, consistent with the Bright Futures: Guidelines for Health Supervision for Infants, Children and Adolescents, 3rd Edition. With funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration/Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB), the American Academy of Pediatrics partnered with APA to sponsor up to 6 awards to support studies using Bright Futures Guidelines, 3rd Edition and the recently released Bright Futures Tool and Resource Kit. This is the third cycle of funding specifically focused on evidence based health supervision.

The Commonwealth Fund New Update

This is a private foundation that aims to promote a high performing health care system that achieves better access, improved quality, and greater efficiency, particularly for society's most vulnerable, including low-income people, the uninsured, minority Americans, young children, and elderly adults. The Fund carries out this mandate by supporting independent research on health care issues and making grants to improve health care practice and policy. The Commonwealth Fund supported the year-long pilot project, Bright Futures Training Intervention With Office Staff (BFTI) and as an outgrowth of this pilot project, The Commonwealth Fund supported the development of 
a 3-volume set of Training and Implementation materials entitled Tools for Working with Practices to Improve Preventive Care Using Bright Futures.

Family Voices

Family Voices is a national, grassroots clearinghouse for information and education about the health care of children with special health needs. Family Voices monitors current public and private sector health care changes that affect children and families through the collective efforts of a volunteer coordinator in every state, 10 regional coordinators, and a small staff working in several locations around the country.

Indian Health Services (HS)

IHS, an agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is responsible for providing federal health services to American Indians and Alaska Natives. The provision of health services to members of federally recognized tribes grew out of the special government-to-government relationship between the federal government and Indian tribes. The IHS is the principal federal health care provider and health advocate for American Indians and Alaska Natives, and its goal is to raise their health status to the highest possible level.
