  About Bright Futures: Nutrition

Bright Futures: Nutrition focuses on health promotion and disease prevention for infants, children, adolescents, and families. Food and eating are presented as both healthful and pleasurable. The guide promotes positive attitudes toward food and offers guidance on choosing healthy foods. Consistent with key Bright Futures principles, family meals are emphasized as they are associated with better diets and help build on family strengths and promote unity, social bonds, and good communication.

Developed by a multidisciplinary team of contributors, Bright Futures: Nutrition is meant to be used by a wide array of health professionals, including registered dieticians, nutritionists, nurse practitioners, physicians, physician assistants, public health practitioners, dental hygienists, health educators, and university/college students in health-related fields. It also can be used in a number of settings, such as practice settings; university or community-based training programs; community health clinics; school-based health centers; community programs such as Women, Infants and Children; Head Start; child care; and home visiting.

Doody’s Book Reviews™, the most trusted source of timely, expert review of newly published books and software in the health sciences recently awarded Bright Futures Nutrition with a 5-Star rating—the highest possible under the Doody’s Book Review system.
